Rinchenpong, a beautiful clam township in West Sikkim, is just another 45 km from Peeling. From Rinchenpong there are spectacular views of Kanchanjunga, Kabru, Rathong, Kokthang, Kumbhakarna, and other snowcapped mountains.
Rent a car and get around here – a British Tax Collector’s Residence or Heritage House, built-in 1860, Rinchenpong Monastery, Poison Lake, Rabindra Smriti Van, British Dakbanglo – commemorating the battle of the hill tribes with the British.
From here, a short walk can be seen on a 6300ft high Reesum Monastery. On the way to this monastery, different species of birds can be noticed. The view from the Reesum to the surroundings is singularly wonderful.
The distance from New Jalpaiguri station to Rinchenpong is 125 km. The cost of renting a full car from New Jalpaiguri Station will cost Rs.4000-4500. If you want to a lower cost, shuttle jeep available from Siliguri SNT Bus stand for Jorthang, which will take about three and a half hours. From Jorthang also shuttle jeep available to Rinchenpong. The distance from Jorthong to Rinchenpong is 37 km.
